1) Windows Generic keyboard Shortcuts:

  • Windows Logo: Display or hide the Start menu
  • Windows Logo+F1: Display Windows Help
  • Windows Logo+L: Lock the keyboard
  • Windows Logo+R: Open the Run dialog box
  • Windows Logo+U: Open Utility Manager
  • Windows Logo+D: Display the desktop
  • Windows Logo+M: Minimize all of the windows
  • Windows Logo+E: Open My Computer
  • Windows Logo+F: Search for a file or a folder
  • Windows Logo+PAUSE: Display the Sys Prop dialog box
  • Windows Logo+SHIFT+M: Restore the min windows
  • Windows Logo+TAB: Cycle through taskbar buttons
  • CTRL + Windows Logo+F: Find computer
  • Windows Logo+Break: System Properties dialog box

2) Windows 10 Keyboard Shortcuts:

Windows 10 is the latest OS from Microsoft, and I have managed to collect some of the most frequently used shortcuts to make your working speed faster on Windows PC. Here is the list of those shortcuts.

  • Win+Y : Temporarily peek at the desktop
  • Win+X : Launch Start Menu
  • Win+J : Switch focus between the snapped & filled apps
  • Win+O : Locks device orientation
  • Win+M : Minimize all Windows on the desktop
  • Win+V : Cycles through toasts
  • Win+Shift+V : Cycles through toasts in reverse order
  • Win+Enter : Launches Narrator
  • Win+PgUp : Moves tiles to the left
  • Win+PgDn : Moves tiles to the right
  • Win+Shift+. : Moves the split to the left
  • Win+B : Switch to the (classic) Windows desktop
  • Win+P : Choose between available display
  • Win+D : Show Desktop
  • Win+U : Open Ease of Access Center
  • Win+. : Moves the split to the right
  • Win+, : Peek at the desktop
  • Win+⁄ : Initiate input method editor reconversion
  • Win+F : Opens Metro File Search
  • Win+C : Opens Charms Bar
  • Win+E : Opens Windows Explorer Computer folder
  • Win+R : Opens Run
  • Win+I : Opens Settings charm
  • Win+K : Opens Connect charm
  • Win+H : Opens Share charm
  • Win+Q : Opens Search pane
  • Win+W : Opens Settings Search app
  • Win+L : Lock computer
  • Win+Z : Opens App Bar

3) Windows Function Key Shortcuts:

Here is a small list of actions to be performed by your function keys in default settings.

  • F1 : Gives help on the active window or selected item.
  • F2: Rename the selected item
  • F3: Search for a file or a folder
  • F4: Display the Address bar list in Windows Explorer
  • F5: Update the active window
  • F6: Cycle through the screen elements in a window
  • F10: Activate the menu bar in the active program
  • SHIFT+TAB: Move backward through the options

4) Windows “Active Program” keyboard Shortcuts:

A list of shortcuts combinations that are used in active program screens to perform various actions depending on the application under use.

  • ALT+ENTER: View the properties for the selected item
  • ATL+F4: Close the active item, or quit the active program
  • ALT+SPACE BAR: Open the shortcut menu for the active window
  • ALT+TAB: Switch between the open items
  • ALT+ES: Cycle through items in the order that they had been opened
  • SPACE BAR: Select or clear the check box if the active option is a check box
  • BACKSPACE: Open a folder one level
  • END: Display the bottom of the active window
  • HOME: Display the top of the active window
  • LEFT ARROW: Collapse the current selection if it is expanded
  • RIGHT ARROW: Display the current selection if it is collapsed
  • TAB: Move forward through the options
  • CTRL and A: Selects all the items in the active window.
  • CTRL and C: Copies the item or items to the Clipboard
  • CTRL and V: Pastes items from clipboard
  • CTRL and F: Displays the Find all files dialog box.
  • CTRL and G: Displays the Go to folder dialog box.
  • CTRL and N: Displays the New dialog box.
  • CTRL and O: Displays the Open dialog box.
  • CTRL and P: Displays the Print dialog box.
  • CTRL and S: Displays the Save dialog box.
  • CTRL and V: Pastes the copied item from the Clipboard.
  • CTRL and X: Cuts the items selected to the Clipboard.
  • CTRL and Z: Undoes the last action.
  • CTRL and F4: Closes the active document window.
  • CTRL+SHIFT: With arrow keys Highlight a block of text
  • CTRL+F4: Close the active document
  • CTRL+ESC: Display the Start menu
  • CTRL+TAB: Move forward through the tabs
  • CTRL and F6: Opens the next doc window in the active app.
  • CTRL While dragging: An item Copy the selected item
  • CTRL+SHIFT+TAB: Move backward through the tabs
  • CTRL+Windows Logo+F: Search for computers
  • NUM LOCK+Asterisk sign (*): Display all of the sub folders
  • NUM LOCK+Plus sign (+): Display the contents of the selected folder
  • NUM LOCK+Minus sign (-): Collapse the selected folder

5) Windows Most Used keyboard Shortcuts:

Some of the most popular and most widely used shortcuts on your Windows PC by almost every computer user.

  • CTRL Z,X,C,V: Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste
  • CTRL+A: to select all
  • Win + E: Windows Explorer
  • Win + Pause: System Info
  • Win + R: Run
  • Win + D: Desktop
  • Shift + Del : Bypass Recycle Bin
  • Win + X = Power Menu Windows 8
  • CTRL+Enter: To add the “http:⁄⁄www” and the “.com”
  • Shift+Enter: Adds “.net” to the address.
  • CTRL+Shift+Enter: Adds “.org” to the address.
  • CTRL+R: To refresh web page
  • Ctrl + Shift + Esc: Task Manager

Internet browsers are most widely used on every computer in today’s internet world. Here are some of the tips and shortcuts that will boost your performance while working on internet.

  • Ctrl+F: Open the in-page search box to search current page.
  • Ctrl+G: Find the next match of the searched text on the page.
  • Ctrl+Shift+G, Shift+F3: Find the previous match text on the page.
  • Ctrl+P: Print the current page.
  • Ctrl+S: Save the current page to your computer.

Zooming Shortcuts:

  • Ctrl and + OR Ctrl+Mousewheel Up: Zoom in.
  • Ctrl and – OR Ctrl+Mousewheel Down: Zoom out.
  • Ctrl+0: Default zoom level.
  • F11: Full-screen mode.

Browser Navigation Shortcuts:

  • Alt+Left Arrow, OR Backspace: Back.
  • Alt+Right Arrow OR Shift+Backspace: Forward.
  • F5: Reload.
  • Ctrl+F5: Reload and skip the cache, re-download entire website.
  • Escape: Stop.
  • Alt+Home: Open homepage.
  • Space, Page Down: Scroll down a frame.
  • Shift+Space, Page Up: Scroll up a frame.
  • Home: Top of page.
  • End: Bottom of page.
  • Middle Click: Scroll with the mouse. (Windows only)

  • ESC: Stop downloading current page

  • F11: Toggle browser between full-screen and regular view
